Last year I made a post called my skincare journey. Since that post, my skin has improved and I wanted to share a skincare journey update. There are a few things that I have done / incorporated into my routine that (I think) have made a difference. Firstly, from August, I stopped cleansing my face in the morning – only in the evening. I wanted to expose my skin to the least amount of London water possible (as it’s hard water). I also noticed the way that salt water improved my acne. When I got the opportunity to go home to Perth over Christmas, I made sure to spend as much time at the beach as I could. Lastly, I started incorporating both a BHA and an AHA chemical exfoliant and will alternate their use, depending on what I feel my skin needs.
In a month, I am embarking on the travel journey of a lifetime – six months of solo backpacking around Europe. I’m going to use this post as a benchmark for how my skin looked before my adventure. It will be interesting to see how it changes as a result of having an inconsistent workout routine (if one at all), my food choices, being in new environments, and lots of change and instability. I’m looking forward to the challenge of trying to stay healthy with the ease of alcohol, partying, and takeaway food at my fingertips.
While I still have a little way to go in clearing up my skin entirely, I’m happy with how it’s coming along. When you’re working towards a goal, it’s important to keep track – progress photos are one of those things that help to inspire and motivate you when you feel like giving up. Slow progress is hard to see, but it does exist. And don’t forget to share the process (whether it’s your own skincare journey update or something else entirely), knowing that you might inspire someone else – even it’s just one person.
Yours,
Kait x
