My skincare journey

For me, part of having a skincare blog is being transparent about how my skin is looking & progressing. Having always struggled with gut health and acne-prone skin, I put a lot of time into making sure I am keeping a healthy lifestyle – eating well, exercising and taking care of my emotional health. Sometimes this isn’t always easy because life gets in the way, but what’s important is choosing to make it a priority when you can. But despite all of this, my skin can still be temperamental. I am still figuring it out on my skincare journey and that’s okay.

A lot of people resort to intervention to treat their skin, like Roaccutane or the pill. These are options, and there is nothing wrong with choosing these. Coming from a natural health background, I have always believed that treating the underlying cause of my skin issues is what I should do. This obviously comes with frustration and having to be consistent, but to me it’s worth it. As cliche as it sounds, achieving clear skin is not a destination, it’s a journey.

Below are photos of my skin on the 21st of May, 2023. My skin isn’t perfect – that’s one of the reasons why I fell in love with skincare in the first place. I have visible pores, acne scars, whiteheads, blackheads, and apparently haven’t threaded my eyebrows in quite some time. I think those of us who have experienced some form of acne (or any skin condition) can say that it affects your confidence and allows insecurity to creep in. Seeing girls with flawless skin upsets you, I get it. I know it’s hard not to compare, but sometimes you can’t help it. You’re not alone. Just promise me that you will hold out hope – hope that one day you will figure out how to achieve the clear skin that you have always wanted.

While this post isn’t exactly educational or particularly inspiring, sometimes it’s just necessary to show what is real and honest. That’s life.

Yours,

Kait x
