natural no-makeup makeup look

Your guide to the perfect “no-makeup” makeup routine

I wanted to aim for a skinimalism routine but, truthfully, my complexion looks infinitely better with a little bit of colour to it. And I am just so dang excited to tell you about my new favourite blush. So, I am going to share my go-to “no-makeup” makeup and skincare routine. These beauty products are my most used, loved, and treasured — ones I hope you will add to your collection. Here are the essentials I use and your very own guide to the everyday natural and effortless “no-makeup” makeup look that we all dream of.

Skincare

To look beautifully glowy under makeup, we need to start at the beginning — skincare. For me, a hydrating toner and gel moisturiser are the two steps needed to achieve a radiant base. There are so many combinations I have used, but right now I am loving the Hada Labo Goku-Jyun Hyaluronic Acid Clear Lotion (Moist) by Rohto Mentholatum and Isntree’s Hyaluronic Acid Aqua Gel Cream. Don’t forget this step!

Tinted sunscreen

An essential part of any skincare routine is sunscreen. Whether you use chemical or mineral sunscreen, there’s always potential for the unwanted white cast. That’s why I use a tinted sunscreen. Naked Sundays has a beautiful range of physical sunscreens called the Cabana Glow SPF50 Mineral Glow Serum Drops that address different needs. My personal favourite shades are Sheer Tint and Bronze (I mix in a few drops of Bronze into the Sheer Tint to get the perfect shade for me).

Concealer

The tinted sunscreen gives my face bronzed and glowy sheer coverage, but for spots, I need a concealer. My go-to concealer is the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in the shade Tiramisu. I love the consistency of this product and a little goes a long way. It’s a dewy matte finish and never feels drying on the skin. Be sure not to use too much — we’re going for an everyday natural “no-makeup” look.

Blush

I have two favourites for this step, with the first being my ride-or-die Lip2Cheek by RMS in the shade Beloved (a true red). But I’ve recently found myself jumping onto the C-beauty makeup train and I am not disappointed. Colorkey’s Bouncy Creamy Multi-Purpose Mud in Q04 is like literal mousse. And when I say you need the smallest amount ever, I mean it. For a flushed natural look, apply it to the highest part of your cheekbones, across the bridge of your nose, and on your lips too.

Eyebrow gel

Although not for everyone, I love my fluffy brows. They look the most natural to me. I use two products in my everyday look. Both are Kosas — the Air Brow Clear Lifting Treatment Gel (sometimes I leave it at this) and the Air Brow Fluff and Hold Treatment Gel in Medium Brown. Using the clear gel first creates a lasting laminated look and means I only have to use a small amount of the pigmented product for fuller and darker-looking brows.

Eyelash curler

Although it’s not a product, it’s essential in my routine. There’s nothing worse than having to remove mascara at the end of the day, so I choose not to wear any. I am fortunate enough that my eyelashes are thick and dark, so curling them is all I need to do. If you’re looking for a natural-looking mascara, Ilia’s Limitless Lash Mascara has incredible reviews and is formulated with beautiful ingredients like organic shea butter and beeswax.

Lip balm

My go-to lip combination is Laneige’s Lip Sleeping Mask and Versed’s Silk Slip Conditioning Tinted Lip Oil in Fig. The lip sleeping mask was once something I only put on before bed. Now, it follows me everywhere I go. I wear it around the clock. It makes my lips feel so hydrated and soft, and gives a glossy look without being sticky. The tinted lip oil is the best second layer that gives my lips a subtle, natural colour. These are the products I return to time and time again for a “no-makeup” makeup look — try them out!

Yours,

Kait x
